Newbie here

Hi guys,

I am considering to use text pattern to develop my first site
I am kind of nervous about it.
I am just wondering is that hard to update the website (after I completly build it) using the textpattern?

is there any manual about updating the website so I can read it before I decide to use text pattern or
is there any kind of online example of text pattern that we can play around?
My knowledge is only xhtml/css/php

thanks a lot!

Re: Newbie here

It’s really easy to update it – everything is done through an online interface. Try the “Network Links” menu at the top right of the page for more TXP sites. You can find a demo here.

Re: Newbie here

No it’s not like Dreamweaver.

Textpattern seperates the different roles. YOu can have people that only enter content, that will only write text (“like blogging”, or as I would say “like writing”). And you have other people doing the layout, styling and css. And you can have administrators that take of te site working, adding users, functionaity, plugins etc. for the other parties to work with.

Re: Newbie here

Hi Guys,

thanks for the answer and I just installed the text pattern.
I am still trying to get use to with :)
anyway, I have another question:
Since I have a lot of text and its looks messy. Can I do the tracking or kerning?
(for example: http://www.pbtweb.com/typostyl/lettersp.html (the sample is down there))

Re: Newbie here

Kerning fonts is something you do in a graphics program, and isn’t possible elsewhere. You can acheive a certain amount of tracking with CSS, though.

Re: Newbie here

Comments work out of the box – no plugins needed. You can see this in the demo.
