Firefox 2.0 final is out, if you’re running RC3 then it’s the same thing.

Their website is still showing RC3 as a “preview release.” Any idea when the official announcement is coming?

Re: Firefox 2.0

I think the politically-correct term is now “Add-ons”.

No, it’s still Extensions, they’ve just grouped them together with Themes and calling the UI “Addons” now, instead of keeping them separate.

Despite the many links and news-stories on Firefox2.0 being released, apparently it ain’t released, until it’s released…

Yes, I saw that after downloading. It explains why the Mozilla site wasn’t updated. It’s not that it’s going to change any, but that they hadn’t set up all the download mirrors yet. Here’s the official download, folks.

On the brighter side, most of my extensions still work fine.

Re: Firefox 2.0

The only new icon I don’t like is the new “home” button. So I grabbed it from the Pinstripe theme and added to my userChrome.css.

Re: Firefox 2.0

Looking at my stats, I see Firefox 2.0 being used more than IE7.

We’ll see after November 1st, when IE7 is force fed to the populace.

Also remember it can take god knows how long for corporate roll out of IE7. Specially given it’s XP only nature.

Hopefully a G4 optimized build of 2.0 will come soon. It really sped it up on my powerbook.

That is why i use Opera as my primary browser and FF with some extensions as my dev (secondary) browser.
I turned away from the idea to have a small app and lots of extensions. The risk is too big….
