4.0.4 Install Probelm
I have just tried to upgrade to 4.0.4. I am running on IIS with a clean URL hack. I have changed the publish.php file accordingly for that but am still having problems. I can still access the admin side of the site fine, but when I try to go to the site itself, I get this:
“config.php is missing or corrupt. To install Textpattern, visit textpattern/setup/”
When I try to go to the setup, it tells me that it looks like Textpattern is already installed and asks me to ditch my config.php file in order to do a clean install. I REALLY would like to get this sorted out sooner rather than later so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can you give us the full path to your config.php and the value of txpath in config.php.
Also: Why did you touch publish.php at all – did you check whether it’s necessary, because we made a couple of changes which (hopefuly) do not make it necessary to make any changes anymore.
Also: Things to note:
old_files: /include/txp_preview.php, /include/txp_import.php, /lib/txplib_update.php, /publish.php
Looks like these files were not updated.
modified_files: /lib/IXRClass.php
If you actually changed publish.php, it should be appearing here. It’s not, which together with the above hints makes me think there is either other installations of textpattern that are mixed up with this one in terms of paths and files; or that you have a mixture of old and new files for your installation.

The value of txpath is: $txpcfg[‘txpath’] = ‘D:\www\GAD_Site\whambammamn’;
The path to config.php is: D:\www\GAD_Site\whambammamn\config.php
Also, I changed the publish.php file because I assumed that this was the problem. I guess I should have asked. Regardless, I was having the same problems, exept I was unable to get the the admin section BEFORE I changed the publish.php file…

The path to config.php is: D:\www\GAD_Site\whambamman\config.php
This is not correct, that file would be ignored. THe file that is used is located at:
D:\www\GAD_Site\whambamman\textpattern\config.php
Did you modify your (main) index.php in any way?

The name of my “textpattern” folder is “whambammamn” and no, I did not change the main “index.php” file in any way.

Okay, I got everything sorted out. This is what I did.
I needed to go into my main “index.php” and change the paths to reflect the change in the name of the TXP installation/main directory i.e. “whambammamn.” Now, none of my links are working with the clean URLs. I just have them set to messy for the time being and, if you happen to know how to fix that, then let me know. Otherwise, I will do some searching myself.

Modifying files and changing the administration directory is not supported and may lead to other problems down the road an/or have other unintended side-effects. I am afraid I can’t help you under those circumstances.
