Importing Question

I have never imported anything before and am a little dubious. I have a Wordpress site and want to import all the data to TXP.

Questions:

> Does the TXP importer COPY the files over to TXP so the original WP remains intact?
> Is the process quite certain?
> Is there anything I should watch out for?

Textpattern doesn’t use WordPress theme files, if that’s what you’re asking. ?

Hi Mary, sorry I didn’t put that well. I want to go from a Wordpress blog to Textpattern using the import tool. I was just wondering if the Wordpress site will still be operational once I import all the Mysql db to Textpattern?

The import is non-destructive, we copy the data that’s necessary, which luckily is not a problem with digital data, a copy is cheap and just as a good as the original. Destroying/Deleting other data after the import would not benefit anyone.

Be aware though, that you can’t have Wordpress and Textpattern installed in the same directory, for hopefully obvious reasons (both rely on their own index.php).
