GoDaddy and .htaccess
Has anyone had any luck with writing a good .htaccess file for a site hosted on GoDaddy under Hosting Configuration 2.0?
I would like to use .htaccess to prevent hotlinking of images and to block referrer spam.
Every .htaccess file I have tried (I have tried every permutation available on the Clean URLs thread) results in 500 Internal Server Error. This is a typical logged error:
/var/chroot/home/content/t/r/e/treith/html/chatteringmagpie/images/.htaccess: Invalid command ‘php_value’, perhaps mis-spelled or defined by a module not included in the server configuration
At the moment I do not have .htaccess installed. Clean URLs are working, happily.
If I may express a frustration with GoDaddy’s servers, configuration changes do not immediately have an effect. If I were to upload .htaccess right now and refresh my page, it would appear the same. I have to wait awhile to see whether the .htaccess will “kill” the page or not.
