[RESOLVED] Incorrect time for publish - Txp 4.0.4

For the second time today, I’ve had to “reset the date and time” on an article in order to have it appear at the top of my weblog. In both instances it became the second article immediately after pressing the “publish” button. In other words, the publish time was wrong.

My primary site as well as three others I work with regularly were updated to 4.0.4 yesterday. This is the only difficulty I’ve found thus far.

Any hints as to where the problem might be? Thanks.

* * * Zem, thanks for your help. I’ve determined that the original problem happened with the very first post after upgrading to 4.0.4. Then, after using the “reset date & time” feature, I left the box checked with the earlier time entered. So…the second article failed to post in the proper spot (at the top of the weblog) even though the articles are getting assigned proper article numbers.

Once I reset it once more and left it checked without an entry in the date and time fields, the next article posted just fine.

I’ll keep an eye on it! Again, thanks for your help.

Is your time zone setting correct?

Zem, it’s set to GMT-6 and DST is on. I believe that is the correct setting for USA Central time zone in October.

When you view the preferences page, is the date and time shown in the date format selectors correct? It should match your current local time, as per the time zone setting.

Yes, it shows the correct date a time.

On the write tab, when you click on the “more” link, a checkbox is displayed. It is checked. The date and time shown beneath that checkbox are also correct. Should that box be checked by default?

Yes, it should, unless the article has already been published Live.

Can you do this please:

1. Post a new article, and confirm that the problem occurs.
2. Go to the edit page for that article, copy the ‘Posted by’ and/or ‘Last modified by’ info shown at the bottom of the center column, and post it here
3. Also post the same dates from the article that appears at the top of your weblog page

Other things to check: is either article Sticky? Are you using a single <txp:article /> tag on your weblog page, or more than one, or using something else like a plugin tag to display the main article list?

A test article I just posted showed the following: _Posted by: spilgrim · 18 Oct 2006 · 02:41:16 PM
Last modified by: · 18 Oct 2006 · 07:44:09 PM_. Where is Textpattern finding that 2:41:16 PM?

I am slightly confused: Has this topic accidently been marked as resolved? Or have you found the source of the problem?

Re: [RESOLVED] Incorrect time for publish - Txp 4.0.4

Sencer, I’ve marked it as resolved until I determine exactly what all the plugins on my site might be causing. I didn’t design the site myself, and I need to make sure that a plugin isn’t the cause of the date and time issues. A test post this morning posted correctly.
