4.0.4. and language update
I’m really happy that there is a new txp-versions. And so I just switched from 4.0.3. to 4.0.4 – and the website works fine. What I don’t understand: at the backend I’m asked to update the (german) language file. But trying this nothing will happen. What is worse: I can’t choose absoluty nothing else at the backend, no tab works – just the “log out“button ;)
Please, can anyone help.
Yours

That sounds like the update script has troubles. Re-upload all files, all the files from within textpattern/update/ as well.

Sencer, I tried this already. It didn’t help. And than I made a really big mistake, tryin to switch back to 4.0.3. Now I get an “Fatal error: Call to undefined function: handle_lastmod() in /www/htdocs/w006d43a/textpattern/publish.php on line 180”-massage :-(
Okay, what I will do:
Removing txp, reinstall version 4.0.3. and maybe update the MySQL-database. Then I will try it again. It will takes me two to three hours (must go shopping first, the refirgator ist empty ;-) But I will report what happend.

That’s a clear indicator that you’ve ended up with a mixed set of old and new files. It’s no problem to downgrade from 4.0.4 to 4.0.3. The fact that you receive the error shows, that the problem is with the copying. Try using a fresh/empty directory, and then renaming/moving the directory instead, if you keep having problems with copying/overwriting files. Be sure to copy config.php to the new directory.
