linking files in articles?

HI,

I want to link to a file in an article. I have a media section and the file is displayed there. Ive tried going view source and getting the corresponding url from the media section and then linking the file using a url link in the article but that just takes me to an empty page and not the download box.

Ive looked through textile help and cant find what im looking for.

Is it possible to do this?

Re: linking files in articles?

if you are talking about the media section in your site, all looks just fine from here.

Re: linking files in articles?

Hi colak thanks for the reply. Yes the media sections working ok but what i meant was how do i link to one of those files in an article? I tried going view source and then taking the link code from the media section and put it in the article as a url.

Hope this makes sense! If you look at my site the current top article (radio one) has a link to the file in the full article. It doesnt work thought…..just takes me to a blank page..

any ideas?

Re: linking files in articles?

Does it work when you put txp:file_download_link id=”…” in the article? I’m not sure if it can be used in an article, TextBook doesn’t say so.

Re: linking files in articles?

I think that it can be done… all you need to do is point the link to http://your_site.com/files/name_of_document.handle
