Comments do not work
Hi,
Hope i’m not repeating any question – i’ve just spent hours trawling through faqs, websites, google, and still cant find a clear way to set this up, what i can imagine to be a simple thing, seeing is thats what TP is for.
I have built a site in a hurry, and have to finish it in the next couple of days. I have integrated TP into it quite successfully, the only problem is that I can’t seem to get the commenting to work. When I click ‘preview’ it won’t do anything – let alone submit a comment!
to see what i mena go to the ‘blog’ page on the site – www.waymoby.co.uk/pregalates
could somebody point me in the direction of some steps to take to set this section up with comments that work?
thanks.
Rory

Re: Comments do not work
You’ve somehow disabled the preview form for comments. I would first suggest comparing the default set of forms to what you have now. You can find them here

Re: Comments do not work
First, I can’t even get at your comment form because of how you’ve setup your section “pregalates” page (for example). You’ll need to correct this so we can see what else is wrong. :) What are the contents of that page?

Re: Comments do not work
@1beb – thanks, I’ve been through all the default pages, that seemed to help the preview of work
@Mary –
First, I can’t even get at your comment form because of how you’ve setup your section
- This seems to be the main problem. I have corrected all the forms and now tried creating different combinations of tags in this section. But still i cannot get to the quotes form through the articles.

Re: Comments do not work
Okay, you’re using article_custom, and in some very strange ways.
First, let’s start by removing those and putting in:
<txp:article form="Single" listform="default" />

Re: Comments do not work
hey, that kinda works
except that it’s showing the article(s) that I want to appear in the column, on the right!
it previews, but can’t submit anything?
at the moment I have that colum defined as a category – this shouldn’t be destiguished by a section for every page should it?
I tried this – <code><txp:article form=“Single” section=“blog” listform=“default” category=“main-page” /></code> – doesn’t work.
also… for some reason the comments form has a ‘forget’ tick box on a MAC, but it says ‘remember’ on a PC??

Re: Comments do not work
First, comments force you to preview once before you can submit, it is an anti-spam measure (click “Preview” and you’ll see the submit button appear).
Second, comments only work with the article tag, not article custom. Why are you pulling a category of your “blog” section’s articles onto your “pregalates” section page? are you certain that does what you’re wanting it to?
Thirdly, the forget/remember thing sets/unsets cookies. Chances are that on one of the two, you have or don’t have the right cookie set, so clearing all your cookies would make them both match again.
