Customizable directory names at time of installation
There is a how-to for changing the location of the Texpattern Admin Directory but this would have to be done on every upgrade and the instructions would also need to change.
Along with the /textpattern directory, I’d also like to move the /files and /images directory to a place of my choosing. In a standalone Textpattern install, the current file structure is ok. It’s when you start adding other apps into the mix, wanting to keep each app segregated makes more sense.
Let’s take an example like having a CMS, Forum and Gallery, a directory structure could look like this:
- cms
- admin
- files
- images
- forum
- include
- style
- gallery
- galleries
- templates
The root would just contain the .htaccess and index.php file.
I’m just bringing this up with an eye towards Textpattern 4.0.5, seeing if there is any interest and of course asking the developers if it’s feasible.

That’s a great idea and I’m all in favor of it. Please extend textpattern to include such a feature.

You already can and always could.

Any developments? I also need to change the default Textpattern folder, and so far the only option is to go through and manually edit quite a few files. Hardly efficient, and it can permanently screw up the site.
It’d be lovely if this were an easier operation, and even better if it was a fully supported feature.
Please? :D
