Installation problems... urgent please help! :-(

Hi there, i’m trying to setup TextPattern on my server, php is working and i have a database ready…

It seem’s in the instructions a little hazzy as to which path i should start on (can’t they make it a little bit clearer!?)
but basically whether it’s the root/index.php or the root/textpattern/setup paths, i’m just not getting very far…

–– just comes up with errors

https://server7.xenserve.com:8443/sitepreview/http/pregalates.com/textpattern/setup/
–– doesnt go any further than selecting a language (but i assume this bit would only work when the connection & config is setup)

please, hope someone can help, i haven’t really used textPattern myself, and i have to get a website up & running in it, by the end of the weekend!! :-s ..i’ve been assured it’s not that hard, heck why can’t it have an easy installation like WordPress!! :-(

/textpattern/setup/ is the right place to start. Detailed installation instructions.

(But honestly, I don’t think you’re doing yourself a favour by committing yourself to setting up a website in a couple of days with an application you still have to get to know…)

ok thanks, im resorting to temporarely setting up on my site to transfer when all is working…… thats if it starts to work?

i had planned to start using it last week, but its just ended up being late :-s ….unless there is something sipler out there….. although from what ive seen it doesn’t seem too bad :s lol

Error messages are there for a reason. Please tell us what they say.

Please explain what you mean by “doesn’t go”.

I’ve deleted the files from the server and uplaoded it all again….
this time there are no errors, there arn’t even any pages! …in both instances (on both those address’s) – the latter address i described above, when you click the button to select the language – the server just returns:-

“Not Found

The requested URL /textpattern/setup/index.php was not found on this server.

Apache/1.3.33 Server at server7.xenserve.com Port 8443”

…but the files are there, the php is working, the db is ready to go, but it’s not doing the right thing!?

Either you’ve uploaded some files or subdirectories to the wrong location (or not at all), or the txpath setting in your config.php file is incorrect.
