Open Office 2.0.4

I’ve been using Open Office for some time now, it does everything I need, I’m free of upgrade costs and it runs on both Windows and Linux.

One thing that has always dogged me was the slow load times, until I tried the 2.0.4rc3 build. Now it loads in under 2 seconds on my machine and it feels quicker in operation.

Open Office is in the process of integrating Thunderbird with the Lightning calendar into the suite, it’s going to be an interesting 2007.

oOo is a great tool yup. Not perfect however… I’ve got some issue with it like being impossible to merge margin between identical objects (like paragraphes), can’t put object back (behind others) in the mouse selecting pile, and some difficulties (as in bugs :p) with complex layouts… However if MS Word does it for several years, it’s not the same price and it’s a locked software :)

2.0.4 was released on the 13th (just noticed today!). Installing right now.
