i know this is stupid - no css bg img's appearing in ie?!
ok people i feel really stupid right now because i know this has got to be something ridiculously simple (ala missing semi in c++)…
im just about to start the dreaded ie fix stage of this site, and the first thing i notice is that not a single image is loading in ie? i know theres a ton of other stuff to fix, but i want to start w/ this. ive triple checked my html header and dtd, looked around the web a bit, tried a few things, and nothin. im guessing it has something to do w/ the liquidity of the layout, but not entirely sure. plz help me see what my eyes obviously cant… and thank you very much ahead of time.

Adding a position to the background image makes it show up:
body {background:url(imgs/bg.jpg) top center no-repeat;}
(I understand it should not be ‘top center’, but you’ll figure out that one…)
Try CSSVista for checking your site in IE.

Just a detail:
AFAIK, the orden for short-hand background declaration is:
body {background:url(imgs/bg.jpg) no-repeat center top;}

Hi Els,
I have searched a bit in Google, because I was doubting:

I started this answer before but the !@#$%^ computer crashed (thanks windows) – which is why I seldom use it.
ANyway, your css will work as written if you simply add a little whitespace between the url and the next attribute. IE gets easily confused when whitespace isn’t where it expects it to be.
Just a note – jamming all your code together like that makes it very hard to read and maintain with minimal gains in download speed and – as you can see – can confuse IE no end.
Obsolescence is just a lack of imagination. / 36-bits Forever! / #include <disclaimer.h>;

thanks a ton nyteowl! i was right, just as silly as a missing semi in c/++.
i seldom use win too… pref ubuntu nix at the moment (enlightenment is an awesome ui on top of it), but must resort to win just for flash (cant stand mac os).
the code doesnt look so jammed when in a code editor w/ color coded syntax, and keeps me from having to scroll a ton… ill put some returns in there when the sites done.
thx again!
thank you
