Custom Template Layout Question

I currently run two textpattern blogs, one is a blog and one is a video blog. Currently they are two separate installs and running off of two separate databases.

I am making an effort to combine the sites into one to reduce the hassle of updating each from different locations. My idea is to have 3 columns:

left video blogs
middle text blogs
right odds and ends (rss feeds, news, etc.).

Here’s the dilemma – Is there a way to tell text blogs to appear in the center of the layout and video blogs to appear in the left column of the layout – is that even possible with textpattern? without using iframes to suck in the two types of content?

your befuddled friend,
Malan D.

Re: Custom Template Layout Question

Yes, definitely possible. Check out
<txp:article_custom section=”“ />

You could put multiples of that tag on your front page so that one would be the video column and one would be the text column.

The right-hand column should be multiple forms. (for links, etc)

Check out SimplePie is you need an RSS aggregator that works with textpattern.
