Is textpattern right for what I need
Hello to everybody,
First of all thanks to all of you for the support and your time.
I have install locally textpattern in order to learn more about this great system,
I have previous experience with other CMS like mambo and joomla, but I think that these systems are very limited at their presentation layer.
Any way I have a website in mambo so I want to remake it with textpattern. So I have some questions to ask
1st: My website is a news and articles website. All articles and news are categorized like this:
NEWS
——- local
——- sports
——- world
——- etc
POLITICAL ARTICLES
——— reviews
——— presentations
——— etc
ENVIROMENTAL ARTICLES
——— news
——— how to
——— etc
I know that there is a way to achieve this. But I don’t really know how you can create your home page in order to show specific articles from different categories. For example I want to show the latest news for the local sport team, the article about global warming, and the latest news from the world.
is this possible?
2nd: I want to have a users login where only the registered users can see some sections, and only registered users can make comments.
This are the main questions (for the moment)
I don’t want easy solutions, only directions and guidelines and I really want to escape from joomla and to use textpatternfor all my projects
Thanks in advance for your help

- article_custom

- You’ll need some kind of plugin/modification if you want to allow users to register themselves.
- You’d need a plugin to restrict comments as well.
You might find Drupal a better match is you want the basic “portal” features of registration and membership stuff.
