Problems installing textpattern on sourceforge servers.
I’m having some problems, due the security configuration of the sourceforge.net server. If any of you have already installed textpattern in such servers, it would be good to know the way. Or atleast it would be good to know whether it is posible to install it or not.
Thanks in advanced,
Rober.

It would help if you could tell us what the problems are.

Re: Problems installing textpattern on sourceforge servers.
Sorry Zem. I thought it was a common problem due the sourceforge shared system. It is just that there is no way to make images/ and files/ world-writable. I can change the permissions, lets say 777:
drwxrwxrwx 3 XXX XXX Sep 23 12:39 files
drwxrwxrwx 2 XXX XXX Sep 24 11:22 images
but when i try to upload and image, or just run the diagnostic i see how:
Image directory is not writable: XXX/htdocs/images
File Upload Path is not writable: XXX/htdocs/files
But i don’t know really if this problem is something related to textpattern, or with the sourceforge.
Yours,
Rober.

Re: Problems installing textpattern on sourceforge servers.
It’s a SourceForge thing, but easily resolved:
SourceForge.net: Project Web, Shell and Database Services: File and Directory Permissions
All content on the project web servers that needs to be written by the project web servers must be world-writable and be placed under the /tmp/persistent directory (create a subdirectory for use by your project files).

Re: Problems installing textpattern on sourceforge servers.
I’m on it, Thanks a lot Mary.
I guessed in this way i can’t use the images in such directories for anything but storage them. Since i can’t publish them nor use them in the site design directly. I don’t know whether it is a shody work or no, but i just create a symbolik link images to the /tmp/persistent/etc…/images and it works fine.
Too bad i only got to work with messy urls at the moment. I’ll search in .htaccess topic to see what i found.
Thanks again.
Yours,
Rober.

Re: Problems installing textpattern on sourceforge servers.
Fyi: you can change the files and images folders paths in the advanced admin prefs.

Re: Problems installing textpattern on sourceforge servers.
Offcourse i know. And i tried in the begginig, but since images directory is a relative path it was a bit thorny to get back through father directories and i didn’t get to work with the images. Even i though i couldn’t use images if they weren’t in child directories of the web root, but i was wrong.

Re: Problems installing textpattern on sourceforge servers.
What do you mean? Just change the image dir to “tmp/images”?

Re: Problems installing textpattern on sourceforge servers.
Unlike other directory settings, this path is always a relative path (to the directory of your root textpattern installation). The default is images.
Maybe i got it wrong.
