Del.icio.us daily blog postings, possible with textpattern?
I’d like to use the del.icio.us daily postings on my site. I like the integration rather than using the sidebar. Has anyone done this? Is it reasonably easy to do? If it’s like pulling teeth, I’ll probably pass.
I ready the faq and can’t find anything on it. Thanks for any info.

Gary,
Are you referring to this link: http://del.icio.us/rss/recent?min=2
Why don’t you use the bit_rss plugin?

No, actually here’s an example of a site using daily postings.

Kind of confusing, I don’t know where the delicious links end and the blog starts.
I did get some ideas for a cycling site I’m working on, amazing what you stumble upon.
Thanks for the link.

Re: Del.icio.us daily blog postings, possible with textpattern?
It’s a little confusing, but it gives a more integrated site. Here’s whats needed:
job_name is the name for your posting “thingy”, which can be anything
out_name is the login name you use for your blog
out_pass is the password you use for your blog
out_url is the full URL of the XML-RPC interface for your blog, which probably ends in something like mt-xmlrpc.cgi
out_time is the hour (from 0-23 in GMT) to post your links at every day
out_blog_id is your blog ID number (which is probably 1 if you have only one blog)
out_cat_id is optional: the category ID number in your blog where you’d like to put these posts
It doesn’t mention textpattern in the directions, so maybe it can’t be done, and so far no one has told me differently. Oh well.

Re: Del.icio.us daily blog postings, possible with textpattern?
Thanks mary, that’s exactly what I was looking for. One question though. The directions say:
“unzip/untar the archive to a local directory on your computer, and you should see two directories rpc and textpattern
upload those two directories in your main installation directory (where usually you’ll see .htaccess, index.php and the textpattern directory).”
But uploading the textpattern folder to my main directory will replace my textpattern folder/installation already there, right? That doesn’t seem right. Am I misunderstanding the directions?

Re: Del.icio.us daily blog postings, possible with textpattern?
It’s okay, that is correct: the new folder would replace any files that are named the same, leave the existing files alone, and add whatever new files there are. The idea here, is to add the file txplib_wrapper.php to /textpattern/lib/, and the simplest way to explain and accomplish that (particularly to those not as tech-savvy) is “upload these”.

Re: Del.icio.us daily blog postings, possible with textpattern?
O.k. I got it set up but received an error.
“results:Running at Wed Sep 27 06:27:34 2006 GMT<br>Fetched 1 items.<br>metaWeblog.newPost fault was: server error. invalid method parameters”
I’m thinking it had something to do with this form:
“out_url is the full URL of the XML-RPC interface for your blog, which probably ends in something like mt-xmlrpc.cgi”
In every example I’ve seen (all with wordpress/mt blogs) the address should end in something like mt-xmirpc.cgi or xmirpc.php. I tried to use:
http://domain.com/rpc/
but it didn’t work. I can’t figure out the full url. I’m guessing it’s something like domain.com/rpc/xmirpc.php, but that’s not it.
Any ideas what the full URL of the xml-rpc for textpattern is? Thanks.

There should be an rpc folder in your site, which you’d access at the url: http://yoursite.com/rpc/.

<i>There should be an rpc folder in your site, which you’d access at the url: http://yoursite.com/rpc/.</i>
Yeah, the path to the folder is what I used, but it doesn’t work, and I’m thinking that pointing to a folder instead of a file is the problem. This is all above my head, but I was thinking there should be a file in the folder I could point at. When setting up delicious to work with wp or mt in this way they instruct you to point to specific files (one .php and one .cgi I believe).
If it won’t work with textpattern I guess I’ll just go the route of putting it in the sidebar. Thanks for trying to help.
