Forgotten translations

I’ve just discovered a few translations that have been posted to the forum but aren’t included on the current rpc language server: ar-ar, gl-gz, bg-bg.

If you’ve made a new translation, or know of one that’s been overlooked, please let us know about it.

It’d be helpful if you could also tell us the standard ISO locale codes and character sets (e.g. ar_DZ, ISO-8859-6), and the translated language name.

Hi zem,

I translated txp to arabic, but the translation is still not finished ( about 80% is made) I asked help for other arabic users but not had response! then the traslation is not yet finished but you can use it it work, the only advice is to make adlin font bigger in arabic.

For the iso code I don’t now I work in UTF-8.

Thanks. I have a copy of your ar-ar.txt file. Incidentally: should this be considered “Arabic (Algerian)”, or some other location-specific translation? (ar_ar doesn’t seem to be an iso locale code)

Also, have you tried editing textpattern.css for right-to-left support?

You can make ar-dz if youwant but i think it is ok for the rest of arabic country.

I haven’t modify textpattern.css because I work using french langage!

It can be ar-ar if it is intended to be a general Arabic translation, but we need to use one of the locales listed at the top of this page. The locale will mainly affect date formats. It’s better if we pick one that’s more likely to be supported on server operating systems. Let me know if there’s one more appropriate than ar_DZ (maybe ar_EG or ar_SA?)

It s a hard question Alex, cause arabic country are differents in using date and numbers, the orient side uses english format but the ouest side uses french format!!
I really don’t know what’s the solution maybe make two files: ar_DZ and ar_SA?

It’s probably safest for now to call the language ar-dz, with the ar_DZ locale. We can look at improving that later.

How do you write “Arabic (Algerian)” in Arabic?

Hi Zem i think it s write like this :

Arabic: عربي
Algerian: جزائري

You can notice that the font is smaller than latin letters!

Thanks Ivan. Incidently Pedro jsut imported your older version yesterday, but comparing the two I see you’ve been very busy. :) We’ll be importing your updated file within a week or so (due to the live-fetching of languages, it’ll be available to people installing 4.0.4 then). Also – if you are interested in keeping on maintaining the lanugage (which we would apreciate a lot), we can get you on the team of translators and you’ll have access to an online translation tool, that makes it easier to keep track of changes and to enter/update language-string changes. Pedro will be contacting you sometime around next week, when he’s back again.
