'static page', but with comments? Is this possible?

I want to have a single page that is outside of the normal “textpattern flow”.

I want to have a single page, with its own topic. The same as a static page.
I’d like it to have comments enabled.
And, I don’t want the comments to appear on the front page.

I considered having a seperate instance of textpattern, but I want to use the same URL.

Is this possible ?

Thanks.

Have you tried creating a new section?

Re: 'static page', but with comments? Is this possible?

After reading your question, and then finding this page:
http://erraticwisdom.com/2005/12/05/textpattern-sections
… i think that maybe using another section is what I need to do.
That page at erratic wisdom says that you can create “different blogs” with sections.
So, I’ll give it a try.

But, I’m still not sure if this is the solution I want.

So, I’m still open to advice

Yes, just create a new page template and set your new section to use that template. In your new template, you can have competely different CSS, HTML, and forms, so it is entirely possible to create a new “area”.
