I'm new here -hi and a few quick questions.
I’m new here and thought I’d just say hello. I am looking for a content management system that will allow clients who i build websites for, easily manage content. One thing I must say is that I have never used a database in my life and it seems that i need one to use textpattern – will a client also have to learn how to use a database too?
I wonder how difficult all this cms stuff is going to be for me in the future?
Anyone here willing to be a bit of a mentor to me when I get stuck?
Thank you :)

Hi mal pacino and welcome.
If you know xhtml/css you have found the right cms for you. Txp is extremely flexible and will allow you to design unique sites for each one of your clients. On their part, all they need to use/learn is textile which is extremely simple and will allow them to place images in the page and format their text.
Regarding the database, your clients do not have to know but you have to learn a couple of basic things regarding maintaining them via php MyAdmin (very simple).
If you wish to play a bit with textpattern try the demo here

Gah. They don’t have the front end set up right on that demo. The .htaccess isn’t working, and I think someone turned on clean urls on the backend….

…but no, you don’t have to learn anything about databases to use textpattern.
…just how to use your host’s control panel or admin utility to create a database.
