Re: [contrib] Textpattern Planet
After a few days of watching the feeds and tweaking:
- With the help of a color picker and my significant other’s critique, I’ve added some color to the site.
- Put the dates on a seperate line to make the item headings stand out. The feeds with no dates are because of Texpattern 4.0.3’s feed and extern.php in PunBB. Textpattern 4.0.4 should fix this as would a better feed script for the forum. If you make a feed change on your sites, just let me know.
- Displaying the first 3 lines of description from the feed’s items, a bit more info to peruse.
- I figured out the feed timing issues, they now update consistently at the top and bottom of the hour. There should be no wait times for any visitors unless you happen to visit when the feeds are being updated by cron (15 to 20 seconds).
- I think by now I’ve got the feeds grouped right.
- I’ll look into adding the author to the plugin’s output.
Textpattern Planet – under new color management ;)

Re: [contrib] Textpattern Planet
hi Bert,
it looks nicer now … i wonder if it might not be more approbiate to have the feeds, which are read by the majority of the users (f. e. this forum) on the left and dev weblog f. e. at the right? sometimes there are no postings on the dev weblog for ages (usually between two versions) and that is somehow boring and indicates nothing is happening.
And how about a hover and visited state for the links?

Re: [contrib] Textpattern Planet
alex,
Since we’re nearing 4.0.4, the Dev blog is actve now as is the Timeline and FAQ, should that change in the future I’ll make some placement changes. I’ll be keeping an eye on the feeds, those that show more activity over time will get bumped up.
The way I divided up the columns, all the user help related sites are on the right, FAQ, Forum and TextBook.
I’ll look into the hover and visited states for links, back to the color picker ;)

Interesting visitor stats:
- Firefox 67.9 %
- MS Internet Explorer 13.4 %
Does this mean that IE is doomed?

I think it just means that most Txp users (the ones likely using the site) are a little more browser savvy than the average internaut.

That’s true but techies are the first to establish trends that later on filter down to the average user.
On my sites, the tech related ones, Firefox is way up. On the regular sites, Firefox has taken a bite out of IE with Opera joining in the fun.

Excerpt: “While this sounds like an excellent buffer against malicious scripts, zero-day exploits and similar bugs, especially between patch cycles, it also raises some interresting, if not disturbing questions.”
