Does there already exist a plugin / tool for importing a joomla article database into textpattern? Any advices?
Have been searching for hours now… if i was just too blind to find, slap me.

Re: importing joomla database
Thank you, but I know that joomla import is not built in with textpattern. That’s why i asked. Maybe there’s someone who built a little tool that he wants to share.

Re: importing joomla database
You might be able to export Joomla to one of the supported formats and import that into Textpattern?

Re: importing joomla database
Right, that was the point of posting the FAQ link. It lists your options.
There’s one more that isn’t listed, but probably should be: hire Team Textpattern or someone else to build a tool or migrate the data for you.

Typically, that sort of thing gets announced, gets listed at the resources site, or is findable through a forum search. There isn’t one, to my knowledge.

Re: importing joomla database
Ok thanks everyone! There seems to be no joomla 2 wp / mt / whatever tool, so i’ll have a friend write a custom joomla2txp script for me. Should not be too complicated, but i’m not so into the sql stuff, more into designing…
Will cost me 3 boxes of beer and we’ll share the script then, of course.
Textpattern’s great, by the way… ;)

Re: importing joomla database
Good to hear. The existing import code should give you a head start. If you’d like to submit the script for inclusion in the core, please do. It’d be particularly helpful if you can provide some sample data for testing, since that’s a continual problem for us.
