Re-uploading thumbnails with FTP

I’m thinking of a redesign of my blog. My current thumbnails, belonging to some picture galleries, are too big for the new layout, which brings me to my question.

Is it possible to download the thumbnails (xxt.jpg) from my server with FTP, change their width and height, save them with the same namen and re-upload them with FTP?

Of course I could just try, but I thought I should ask first! :-)

Yes, that should work okay – Textpattern only stores the full-size image’s width and height in the database.
