Problem deleting several article categories
I had to delete five of seven article categories and made sure which ones were checked. After pushing the delete button none of them was left.

Re: Problem deleting several article categories
Was this in Textpattern 4.0.3 and did you also have subcategories instead of just “normal” categories? If so, then the categories are likely still there, they just don’t show anymore.
If you have phpmyadmin installed, check the contents of the txp_category table. In most cases you’ll end up removing all the records that say ‘article’ except the one with the NAME ‘root’. Do NOT remove any category with the name ‘root’ (article category with parent ‘root’ can be safely removed). After that you can re-create the categories.
If all of the above applies, you’ll be happy to know that chances of this happening in 4.0.4 are zero if you’re the only one editing categories.

Re: Problem deleting several article categories
Thanks for your help, ruud. Seems like I have to follow these steps before being able to create a new category. Hoped I can circumvene this. Ah, creating a category was just awfully slow. And one category came back again with the creation of the new one. Can I leave the last invisible one or do I have to delete it?
Yes, I’ve 4.0.3 installed and had the categories arranged hierarchically. Cant’t remember at which level the remainders were. But it’s ok to create two categories (or to lose two). I just wanted to let you know that this can happen. Good to read that it’s excluded in 4.0.4.
