article_custom
I attempted to add the txp:newer and txp older to the following code, under the article_custom tag, but it did not work. Nothing showed up. Not sure if I am missing something. The only “unusual thing” about this code is that it is using a custom field to sort.
<code><txp:if_article_list>
<txp:if_category>
<txp:article sortby=“custom_7” />
<txp:else />
<txp:article_custom category=“Property” form=“default” sortby=“custom_7” Limit=“6” />
</txp:if_category>
</txp:if_article_list></code>
Any assistance would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Re: article_custom
I do notice that you are using a capital “L” for “limit” which would be incorrect.
older and newer do not work with article_custom because it does not work like article does, it is not context-sensitive (are we on another page? a category page? a search?).

Mary:
I thought it was next and previous that do not work with article_custom … Textbook tells me to use older and newer ….

Re: article_custom
article_custom would never display only one article, so of course next and previous wouldn’t work. Neither does older and newer.

Re: article_custom
Mary:
Then using my original code below:
<code><txp:if_article_list>
<txp:if_category>
<txp:article sortby=“custom_7” />
<txp:else />
<txp:article_custom category=“Property” form=“default” sortby=“custom_7” Limit=“6” />
</txp:if_category>
</txp:if_article_list></code>
I am stumped on how can I show the additional articles in the category Property? All I am looking to do is have six (6) appear on a page rather than a long laundry list … with the capability to hit a button to see the next six (6) and so on and so on …
Thanks.

Re: article_custom
Your tags versus your explanation has me somewhat confused. Can you elaborate on the behaviour you’re after (category list versus regular list, etc)?

Re: article_custom
Mary:
Sorry, for the confusion.
Currently I have a gallery page which consists of articles from a category called Property. The Gallery page contains the article image, several custom fields and the ability for the viewer to see the complete article. Right now the Gallery page has over 30 listings, which is too many for one page.
What I want is for this list to be limited to six articles with the capability of the visitor to page through the remaining articles 6 at a time. What I was attempting to do is add buttons on the bottom to allow this …
I hope this is a better explanation.

After looking all through the post, I have found the root of the problem
- Index » How Do I…? & Other Questions » <<previous – next>> for my “archive” page (link)
Plainly rr_thumbpops is the culprit … i think …
Unfortunately, now I am searching for the solution

‘fraid not. article_custom will never display pagination links. You’ll need to use a plugin like chh_article_custom to do that.
