Re: What host do you use?

I can recommend A Small Orange. I’ve been with them since the end of January when my previous host closed shop. Service has been exemplary and the price has been excellent.

One thing that really bugged me with my previous provider was thay they were not a registrar and consequently I had some trouble when I wanted to transfer domains out from them. Domain ops seem to be handled very efficiently by DH—but I haven’t tried a transfer out yet.

No matter how good a hosting service is, it is advisable too keep web host and domain registrar seperate.

Re: What host do you use?

Thanks for recommending A Small Orange. I forgot about them and actually am going back and forth between them and HostGator right now. HostGator has the edge on the surface because of the prices they have and what they offer for those prices (but I don’t know if they oversell?). A small orange does look great though.

Most hosts these days oversell to a certain extent, it is the only way they can offer those massive space/bandwidth packages. I would sat Hsotgator oversells by a considerable margin just based on their shared hosting plans bandwidth vs price; though not as severly as Dreamhost does.
