Display a banner graphic without a link underline?
I added a banner graphic at our site http://www.papressblog.com, but it displays with an underline which I assume is due to it being a link back to the home page. I added “text-decoration:none” to the style attributes for the image, but to no avail. textism.com has a similar deal, but with no underline (I also stole a href=”/” onfocus=“if(this.blur)this.blur()” from there, but with same results). Thanks, and sorry if this is an HTML 101 question.——Kevin Lippert, NY, NY

If you don’t want any images to have borders when they are links:
a img {
border: none;
}

Re: Display a banner graphic without a link underline?
Hi there,
Because you’re using border on all anchors in the middle column, there is no way to turn it off on anchors which happen to contain an image.
Two options:
- Get rid of the
borderand usetext-decorationinstead. Looking at your link styles right now, I can’t see the need forborderanyway. - If you must use border (and in certain situations, like the need for different underline colours on hover/focus,
borderis the only way), you can try this little trick:
#content a img {
position: relative;
bottom: -1px;
vertical-align: text-bottom;
}
I’ve put an example of this in use here
