Re: Forum Re-Designed

I think it’s great too. I’d used stylish to reduce the font-size already but your’s goes so much further :-)

However I still the yellow ghosting when viewing an individual thread in the message background itself, particularly when a shorter message like your post just above mine and next to the online/offline above report/quote. It must be something shining through, because I had trouble trying to locate it in the CSS.

I did try clearing the cache, reloading your file, starting/re-starting firefox but to no avail. Any tips?

Re: Forum Re-Designed

I can confirm the ghosts are still lurking around. It’s odd, it appears to be in some posts, and not others. For example, look at posts 9 and 11 above. In 9 I don’t see any, but in 11 I do…above and below the utilities links.

I’m being pretty lazy here for not looking into it myself, but I figure you want to follow-up with your public file.

EDIT: Whoops, I take that back, I do see one in 9, but only on the bottom. I wonder if it has anything to do with the number of lines in a post? Or whether or not there is a “Last edited by so-in-so on …” notice.

Re: Forum Re-Designed

Yep, that was it :-) Thank you for the update. The ‘ghost’ is not quite gone, though. On line 26 beginning div.codebox ..., Try taking out .rowodd,.roweven at the end. I wasn’t sure about the background of the profile box either, then tried adding div.postleft {border-top:5px solid #fff;} and it feels a little more open. Otherwise, I think it helps sort and structure information much better and is more gentle on the eyes too.

Re: Forum Re-Designed

BTW: I also switched the international area back on, but really I only want to see “Deutsch” and “Internationalisation” (just don’t understand enough of the others). It’d be great if each language had its own #id, perhaps according to language, e.g. #de-de etc… Mary?

That would be great, as I can only decipher the Internationalization and French forums. Trimming out the others would be a space saver.

Re: Forum Re-Designed

David,

now that quicklinks have made it to the forum, is there any chance of a touch-up to your forum make-over to accommodate the changes once they stabilise a bit?

Re: Forum Re-Designed

Hi Steve,

Do you mean the ‘lump’ that recently appeared under the ‘Textpattern’ < h1 >? Fixed – see updated file in OP. Let me know if something else.

P.S. Mary, or anyone (!), could you slap an ID on the ‘Forum Categories’ block, please?

Re: Forum Re-Designed

Using IE5 for MacOS 9 the “Quick Links” menu doesn’t work without a “Go“button. (oooh, … , hmm, aah, … , does this belong here?)

?? my excuses ??
maybe it just doesn’t get rendered in some browsers, iCab shows the go-button at least together with the “Jump to” menu at the bottom.
