blacklist
Created by Jay Allen (original script, its powered by your donations.) for MovableType, then ported to WordPress (info). I changed it for TXP into a sql query.
Backup your database first and try this out. Unpack and use phpMyAdmin or such and run it; it will paste a list of known spammers into the txp_discuss_ipban database table.
Importing works for me, but I don’t know if the comments from blacklisted IPs are really blocked. Just a note: it is not the most recent list of known spammers, so change it to your needs. I hope it will help someone in the spam fight.
Update 16.10.2004:
Based on version 2.6 of WPBlacklist – download

Re: blacklist
Ummm – do we even NEED this?? I haven’t had a lick of spam since moving to TXP and the forced preview on comments does a pretty damn good job of discouraging spammers…
Am I the only one that’s spam-free??

Re: blacklist
I used Blacklist when i was on MT and it stopped about 5 a day, since moving to Textpattern i haven’t had a single attempt.

Re: blacklist
the preview does stop any automated stuff, and you can manually blacklist in TXP. I was just trying to be encouraging.

Re: blacklist
Sketch, you’re right, the provider has some troubles. I hope they will fix them fast. For now, here it is.
There is a new version of WP Blacklist, so download updated, blacklist 1.2 or version 2.6
