News site in Textpattern..is possible..
Hi,
I travel on the web to find some opensource cms that can handle content for some media-news portal. And I have 3 question:
1. Is possible with textpattern get look and feel like on this site http://index.hr (news in blocks and all page too look similar to that site…)
2. Is there some plugin that can easy handle image gallery (read from folder and create gallery)
3. Is there some plug in that can manage video files ( that we can put in categories..similar to youtubes)
so if is that not possible..can you recommed something other?

I think it is possible, but also a lot of work. The Vijesti, Sport and Fun blocks could be setup as textpattern sections that all display on the front page, and you could customize it so that only the headlines of the stories display. This would be a substantial modification of the base Textpattern but I don’t think it would be impossible.
You might also want to look into Drupal which is used by The Onion, a site whose style matches yours more closely. I don’t know anything else about Drupal though.
For an image gallery, there’s singapore. It’s not a plugin but it works fine alongside Textpattern.

uh…so Textpattern can’t do if something “little complex” is he only for little online “chatting”?…
I cant belive that no one on the opensource comunity don’t work “real” stuff…staff that we can use on real “hard” sites….I have hope that I one day find something that have..

- Good galley module
- Good article module

Now I only find pice of realy good script….
uhhhh
I come here beacuze I read on net that Textpattern have GREAt flexibility…so where is that flexybility…is this like “open blank page…then do code …everything what you like…..then save that page…and put link to taht page..:)” is this CMS or notepad?

- Wow, chill out. You’re obviously not a developer, but you could be more polite when asking for help, you know, especially when you received a prompt and polite answer.
- You can make a Textpattern site look like anything you want.
- Textpattern is a cms, not a portal or full-blown all-in-one community software (like Drupal is, for example). That doesn’t make it “notepad” or not “real”. Even the word “module” is so obviously portal-like, I don’t understand how recommending Drupal is offensive to you.

Almost anything is possible with textpattern, even a site like the one you mentioned.
Have a look at UX Magazine which is powered by Textpattern and looks really great.

My 2. answare is not only for Textpattern…this is my comment whou is out from deep inside of me :) beacuze I trying about one year (Yep 1 year) to find something realy good….but…I’m today and yesterday set again after few months pause…and try to see on internet..is someone develop some realy good cms that we can use in sites rich of content…and to change that content daily..not just to make-up for one mont..and if change content..make-up agin….
But …after that months pause I try some cms ..agin..and agin…and today I stop on Textpattern…and..se some realy gooood looking sites….but…when I try to do something that can be used in real world…then…huuuh..nothing…again same story…use this modul..try this modul..but if you wona realy that to work ok..and to have real life potential…U must use some freelancers..hah….
Is this CMS (Content management system) ?…what he MANAGE?….Article?…News?…Media? ..Music files?..Video files?….not..he just can to look good….and you can “easily” get that good look…and wrote few blog comments…huh…
How to easily get managed content?…how to easy put blocks on page wherever you want?….not..this is not possible..except you manualy do this for every page…in “notepad” :)…
So …nothing new on opensource comunity :( no one can’t make sometning that is worth of money…..
And I again remember this “If you don’t know what is good….then look what is expensive” :)
But if you thaink that I’m not right..give me link to nice and good cms….who can mange content..without programming :)
