Essential TPX plugins: the addons you have to install

Hello, I’m a newbie in the TXP World. In the last weeks I look at many sites powered with TXP (mainly blogs), read forums and tutorials.
The resources overthrough me: over 500 plugins! Some are useful to obtain particular effect, others (to manage contacts, links and archives) are suitable to general purpouses, and few (to do the database backup, for example) are to be considerated like “essentials”.

So, I’d like to know waht are, according to you, the plugins that every TXP user should install: a sort of “best of”.

Thanks for your help.

For me, the three most essential are, in no particular order…

ako_nav – Ok, yes, this one’s mine, but I tend to find it extremely useful for creating dymanic navigation lists that will automatically add
class=“active”
to the current section one is in.
zem_contact_reborn – For adding a contact form to your site. The original was great, the “reborn” version is even better.
rss_admin_db_manager – Essential to any site just incase something should go kaput. The database backing up is, IMO, critical, and I think that everyone loves Rob for this plugin.

There are a lot of other really great plugins, but these three are the most essential IMO.

My Photoblog, and my personal site. Got nav? ako_nav.
Thanks for taking the time to look…

When you have some time (and when, with the help of other users, I hope, we’ll have finished with the essentials plugins), please, tell me about the others plugins you mean, even if they’re not essential like a backup tool.

I’m digging in the resources and the problem is that there are many plugins that do the same thing: it’s difficult to find out the “king of the hill” in each category without the help of experienced users.

For exemple a very nice plugin, according to me, is the rss_live_archive by wilshire: maybe isn’t essential but it’s awesome. I mean plugins like this, also.

The conditional plugins are indispensable to me

chh_if_data — Not one I’d label a “must have”, but pretty handy.
