Image List By Category
I have been searching, but have been unsuccesful to locate something that I thought would be fairly easy and straight forward.
I am looking for the capability to display a list of images (not thumbnails) based on a partiular category (or categories) and then the capability to click on an entry in the list to display the image. I do not want to display all the images.
I found the remnants of talk about an old plug in that I thought could do this, but was unsuccesful in tracking down any additional information on it.
I also found this thread “More powerful image tag” but could not locate how colak hacked glx_gallery to return a list …
Any and all direction would be appreciated since this is the last piece opf the puzzle for a site I am working on.

I’m not sure what you actually need, but I’ve done something close on a client site (not still finished, I can’t link it) using three plugins:
stw_category_tree to build a navigation between image category
bos_image_display to build the gallery or displaying the image.
bos_if_cat_parent conditional tags to build different template part depending on category being or not assigned.
I’ve also a similar thing (only with one category, but more than one is possible) here (with thumbs) and here (with names).
I don’t know if it’s for you.

What I am looking for (except more than one categroy) is with the one you have working with names? It is exactly what I have benen searching for as long as it is dynamic and not hard coded ….
Any insight you can give me and or direction would be GREATLY appreciated.

Sorry, I missed your reply. Here I am. The tag I used in the template are the following:
For displaying the big image:
<txp:bos_image_display cat="color" wrap="p" />
For displaying the name list:
<txp:bos_image_index image="0" title="1" break="li" wraptag="ul" class="galind" title_tag="h4" cat="color" />
No need of the other plugins I mentioned (used in the other example).
All images are in “color” category obviously. My bos_image_display plugin can be found here

I followed your instructions (see my code below) and I now have a large image from the category displayed on the page and a list of the category image titles underneath it.

The problem I am having is that when I select an image title, I do not get the image to appear.
Can you please let me know what I am missing. My guess is that it is something simple.

I don’t know if this can be placed inside an article. It’s done to have a gallery or a multiple gallery in a section page, like the original image_display and image_index tags. If you want to have galleries depending on your articles, you should try using multiple article images. Look for upm_image plugin and hak_article_image plugins, they can help you. Also, look for whilshire rss_thumbpop plugin. This can sure be done. But it’s a different situation.

Uhm… after a quick look I updated the plugin so that you can actually use it also inside articles: just add ‘in_article=“1”’ attribute inside the txp:bos_image_index tag that you put in the article. Let me know if there is any problem. v.0.42.

It worked great. Thanks for going the extra mile and making it compatible with Articles. This made everything much easier.
Now I am using your plug in, so my client can set up password protected galleries for his client.
