Text is not loaded in its entirety
The problem: After saving, the reloaded (write) page does not load the whole of the text. In the example I give above the text stops on “control over their appearance” which is located under the “EVALUATION & QUESTIONS” heading. The rest just doesn’t show at all. I noticed this after making an edit to the text which resulted in the article not being saved in its entirety. This is major as a lot of information can be lost this way.
Here are my diagnostics

Re: Text is not loaded in its entirety
Sorry can you describe the problem again? I can’t see what you’re referring to.

Re: Text is not loaded in its entirety
Hi mary… That was quick!!!
the problem is that my write tab does not load the whole of the saved text in the text field.
When I first insert the text and click publish all is fine in the front end except what is shown in the back end is a cut-down version of it. If I click save again, I lose the text which is not showing in the text field.
Does that make sense?

Re: Text is not loaded in its entirety
Very strange.
- Okay, first, make sure you’ve got a copy of your full article somewhere.
- Turn on debugging and create a new post (draft) for the purpose of testing.
- Try the save thing with this new article, and see if (with debugging on) you get any warnings, notices or errors.
- Which markup type are you using? Textile or straight (X)HTML?
- Email me a copy of your raw article text, so I can test it out as well.

Re: Text is not loaded in its entirety
Wot Mary said, plus one other thing: view the html source of the write page, locate the body <textarea> tag, and see if it’s truncated in the source also.

Re: Text is not loaded in its entirety
mary, zem
Firstly let me thank you for your suggestions above. I tried to duplicate the error today, with a new draft article, a new live one, I even re-opened the article in question using test/debug and live modes but somehow the problem is not there anymore. So hopefully it was a temporary error which will not occur again.

I remember that some Firefox extension was the cuplrit in a similar case – unfortunately I can’t remember the name of the extension, but that would be something to check for (for example by creating a new bare bones Firefox profile).

I only have google toolbar, Dom inspector, sage and web developer installed. If it happens again I’ll disable them one by one to check that. Thanks sencer.

Re: Text is not loaded in its entirety
I had something similar happen to me via a different series of steps, but it might help you figure it out.
I had an article with about 4,000 words open in the edit window in Firefox, and had a browser crash. With the plugin Session Saver installed, when the browser reopened all those pages, including the write tab with that article loaded, it somehow resaved the 4,000 word article … cut down to about 1,000 words.
I was able to grab the full text from a cached RSS feed and restore it (whew!), but I now make certain I leave it on the logs tab when I’m not actually editing something.
