TXPers London Meetup August 12-19?

Good Textpattern people,
I will be in London (Camden specifically) between the 12th and 19th of August. It would be an ideal time to share a pint of bitter over deep geek and design. Graeme Porteous (author of GPB plugins), of Cardiff UK, is in search of a good pub, Jon Hicks is welcome to join us, but will likely be gorging himself on some rare cheese next door, hee hee, I do know that there are plenty of you U.K. folks out there, so hey, lets make it a night!

Best nights for me are actually Friday the 11th, or midweek on Wednesday the 16th, but I can probably swing whatever works best for folks. How about you all, any takers? Got a good local in mind? Feel free to chime in. Lets get a good list going.

And don’t worry, I’ve already celebrated July 4th (independence from England). I’ll probably only have energy for a few pokes about how we won using mostly pitchforks, and in any case you’ll likely just be able to say “Hey this bloke’s a yank” in some pub and everyone will either laugh at me or kick my arse.

:)

Hope to hear from ya,

Matthew

This should be good.

Anyone know of a good pub in the Camden area? else I’ll go on a hunt for somewhere with good beers this weekend when I’m there.

Cheers!

Hogshead Pub, Man in the Moon, or World’s End are the most popular I guess

There’s a slight chance I might be able to make this! Are there any set plans yet?

Cheers,

No set plans yet Jon. Doesn’t seem like many people are interested/able to come.

I will be in London early afternoon tomorrow and all of Sunday. I’ll come to London next week, (Wednesday?) if that is better for everyone else but Sunday is better for me.

I didn’t have a chance to check out to pubs sekhu recommended, but looking at online reviews I think the Man in the Moon looks the best. Anyone have a preference?

Re: TXPers London Meetup August 12-19?

hello folks,
Sorry, I’ve been out of the loop,
my access to the interweb has been spotty at best.

I’m down in Portsmouth at the moment, having just been to visit Brighton (not my son, but the city of course).

Graeme, Jon, others,
Lets call it Man on the Moon on Saturday Sunday Night (the 13th), at 7:30pm

Here’s a map:

I hope to some folks show up there.

and Here’s a picture for us visual people:

ps. Although it feels extremely silly to say so, I will be wearing a green button down shirt, glasses, and I’ve got a shaved head. (if anyone makes fun of me for sounding like I’m posting in a personals ad… :)

EDIT note the change on the day/date

We keep missing each other Matthew. I was in Portsmouth last weekend and I’m heading for Brighton today, for a friends birthday party happening tonight and tomorrow.

Sunday sounds great – I’ll be there, and we’ll finally meet up. Not sure what I’ll be wearing, probably a plain grey top and dark brown jeans. Or maybe what I’m in now… my Daring Fireball t-shirt it all depends on how good/heavy the party is ;-)

Re: TXPers London Meetup August 12-19?

Graeme,
Sounds great. That’s funny we’ve been leap froggin it.
Where in Portsmouth were you? I used to live down here
when I went to school here. I mostly lived in Southsea.

Its a funny city really, but I like Southsea quite a bit.

If you felt like passing me your mobile no. it might help us connect?

Cheers :)

I was saying at a friends place on Merton Road, actually down there for the final weekend of Cowes week so I did’t spend long in Portsmouth/Southsea.

My first time sailing The Solent :-S
