Billing System
Is there a way you can use TXP to bill clients? I imagine something similar to the billing system of Paypal, except that it would work with a simple credit card transaction. (No registration with PayPal necessary)
I imagine some kind of login would be necessary, along with the scripts to process the credit card payment. I dont even know if TXP is the best solution but perhaps someone here has a brilliant chunk of code they are sitting on… or at least I hope so! :)
Edit: Forgot to mention that the bills are for services.. no product list or photos necessary.

Yes, if you had a plugin to do it or integrate with a specific external billing script. As far as I am aware, none exist, but I cannot be certain. Of course, if you can’t find one, and need one written for you… ;)

Are you referring to you, the seller, or to customers? For some time, PayPal has allowed customers to pay through them, without being PayPal users. :)

Re: Billing System
Nice plug! ;)
I need to:
- Manage Clients
- Send Printable Invoices
- Have a ticketing system to track jobs
- Help Center would be great
Already it looks like something out of the scope of TXP.
As much as I would love to keep it all open-source, I think I found what I am looking for in a hosted package:
It’s not free, but at $10 a month not bad at all… interface is nice as well. I gotta try it to be sure though.
Here’s a question:
If you guys do end up developing special applications like this, have you considered selling them publicly as add-on modules? Or ransoming them? I know a lot of this work is highly customized and probably not universally applicable, but at some point you end up building a framework which could be trimmed to the essentials and pimped for some serious $$$. I’m no business expert, but I think a lot of people here would take great interest in Team TXP’s commercial endeavors. We are your biggest fans after all ;)

Yes. Eventually. It’s dependent on many other things. For now, we provide custom development and support services only.

Re: Billing System
Yes, that does look nice at first glance. If you go with it, lemme know how it goes in use. :)

Re: Billing System
No pressure at all, but that is some exciting news, zem!
As we ponder the future I cant help but wonder who else Team Text Pattern will recruit. I certainly dont have those skills, but curious nonetheless as to what it takes to be a Team player. Do you guys even foresee that kind of growth, or do you prefer to work in small groups?
@ Mary… my client loves the interface. Tomorrow we take it for a test spin :D

They told me all I had to do as send them my bank account number and social security number, and I was in! Don’t know if that offer still stands, though…

Re: Billing System
I think that the best way to get into this whole txp thing would be to start doing really kickass plugins and then start submitting patches.
I don’t really see the core team needing to get any larger right now….although….this last release hung around a bit too long for my tastes.
