Attempt to make my TXP site multilingual.

But i have no idea how to start.
I’ll start by making 3 links NL, FR & ENG. But what’s next?

Re: Attempt to make my TXP site multilingual.

What’s next? That depends on what you want to do with your multilingual site.

 • Do you want to write a mixed-language post (for example, a contact page with your information in all three languages)? If so, just go ahead and start typing—because Textpattern uses UTF-8, it can handle multiple language encodings out of the box.
 • Do you want to localize all of your articles into the three languages? Then take a look at this plugin, still in the early stages.
 • Do you want some posts in English, some in Dutch, and some in French (that is, no localization), and create archives separated by language? There are a lot of ways to do that, depending on your wants and needs. If you give us more information, we can point you in the right direction.
 • Do you want to create archives separated by post category or topic, but also keep information about the language(s) used in each individual article available for searching, sorting, etc? (This might, for example, be the case if your audience is also widely multilingual.) There are ways to do that, too.

As you can see, there are a variety of things that qualify as “multilingual publishing,” each with its own solutions. And, of course, there are also other things I haven’t mentioned above. A more detailed explanation of what you’re trying to achieve would be useful. Thanks.

Re: Attempt to make my TXP site multilingual.

I think the plugin will help me on the way. It’s indeed localisation that i need.
But it will also need to be possible to make 1 post and have it appear on all languages.
And the posts should dynamically link to eachother from one language to the other. So if i’m reading a frensh version, i want to be able to switch to it’s english version.
And this can’t be done with categories.

But thanks very much. I’m trying the plugin now.
