Andreas08 for Textpattern
Hi, so having given up on the Easy Kubrick theme, I found Andreas08. I am in the proccess of customizing it, but I’m wondering where I’ve gone wrong with the entries (notice the duplicates in the columns). You can see it here —> <a href=“http://alessandrapalmer.org/blog”>here</a>

Re: Andreas08 for Textpattern
I don’t see any columns or content at that link. BTW, did you check out the Kubrick link I posted in your thread in Themes?

Re: Andreas08 for Textpattern
Hi. I admit to being one of the most impatient people to use textpattern, ever. My site has had 12 layouts this weekend before I landed on Autumn which does not seem to be cross browser compatible. If you view it in Firefox, the AlessandraPalmer.Org is half hidden under the first entry box. If you view it in IE that doesn’t happen. Secondly; I cannot for the life of me make the background image I want to show itself. This problem has been recurring throughout all of the layouts I’ve tried this weekend. I have never experienced this problem before and I don’t know how to fix it.
Luckily, those are the only problems I am experiencing with this layout, which is already an improvement over the other layouts I tried, with every other one I had more than 2 problems!
Oh yes, I did try the Kubrick for TXP and had the same problems I experienced with Andreas08. But thanks for the suggestion!
Any ideas for how I can fix the cross browser issue and make the background image show? I have to go back to work tomorrow and won’t have any time to mess with my site until the weekend.
<b>Edit:</b> Viewing above link, my blog seems to have disappeared… So I guess that makes problem numero 3.

Re: Andreas08 for Textpattern
Actually I see the same thing in both Firefox adn IE, the header and the footer. There is no content in between.
Ok, I tried using the image you are specifying for a background (http://i2.tinypic.com/206iljb.jpg) on a page on my test site and it doesn’t display there either. I would guess that they have hotlink protection enabled to prevent people leeching bandwidth. If you have permission to use the image just save it to your own site space and link from there.

Re: Andreas08 for Textpattern
Okay, so when I get home from work I’ll try uploading the image to my own site, easy enough. Anyway, there’s supposed to be content on the blog page. Because there’s none visible for whatever reason you see the full site name. But <a href=“http://alessandrapalmer.org”>here</a> you don’t in Firefox. So, at this point, assuming the image is going to show when I upload it to my own site, I have 2 problems: 1) the cross browser issue, and 2) there’s no content on any established page except the main one.
Thanks so much for all your help!
If all else fails I’ll go back to Andreas08 and hack away at that til it works. It seemed easy enough, I was just a tad too impatient. Although I’d still need to figure out the columns issue with that one. What do you think? Think Autumn’s fixable or should I just go back to A08?

Re: Andreas08 for Textpattern
Actually except for the two blocks of content, both pages looks alike – the site name is visible in both.

Re: Andreas08 for Textpattern
In IE7 & Firefox, I’m still not seeing the entire site name although in the older version of IE that’s on my PC I see the whole name… I’m thinking I’ll switch back to Andreas08 and then maybe make the switch to Autumn when I’ve worked out all the kinks. I can’t really afford to have my site in disarray for this long. I’ll post later when if/when I’ve encountered the column conundrum again.

Re: Andreas08 for Textpattern
Hi, so far so good with Andreas08, I’m going to leave the premade up while I edit, I <i>have</i> learned my lesson, I swear! and I have learned to ask for help, before it’s a total mess! I do have one question though, how do I enable excerpts? See <a href=“http://alessandrapalmer.org/blog”>here.</a> It would look <i>so</i> much better as excerpts! I already have all excerpts written and saved in TXP for all entries in question and all showed as excerpts in my former theme, Relaxation.
Again, thanks so much for all your help.

Re: Andreas08 for Textpattern
I don’t know exactly how your page template is set up, so this is an approximation:
- In your page template there is a txp:article or txp:article_custom tag, probably within the area marked if_article_list. In that tag there is the attribute listform=“xyz” (in txp:article) or form=“xyz” in (txp:article_custom).
- Go to the forms tab and make a copy of this form with a new name, e.g. “excerpt” and set its type to article. Then edit that new form and replace where it says txp:body with txp:excerpt
- Go back to your page template and change the previous form=“xyz” to form=“mynewformname”. It should then display the excerpt instead of the body in the list of articles.
If you cannot see any (list)form=“xyz” statement in your page template, then it is using the form called default. You’ll need to copy this as a new name and then add listform=“mynewformname” to the txp:article tag in the page template. More infos on txp:article, txp:article_custom and txp:excerpt in the textbook.

Re: Andreas08 for Textpattern
Okay, I’d finally done it. I really do hate to say this but just one more question and I swear I will leave you all in peace for at least a year! View the blog (the link that started this all in the first post), What link do I put in to go to previous entries? I swear that’s all I need. Thanks so much for all of your help!

Re: Andreas08 for Textpattern
link_to_prev for individual articles, older for article lists. Have you consulted the Textbook?
edit: Proper links

I just don’t win. Here’s the deal. Commenting is ON but when you click on “Comment” at least in the blog you get a message: “Commenting has been turned off for this article.” Commenting is on by default and left on for every article. What’s wrong?
