Download Problems
Having problems downloading/installing TP 4.0.3 on my BlueHost.com site.
BH is using MySQL ver 4.1.20, php ver 2.8.02
Used “unlimited” ftp installer on the BlueHost FTP Manager control panel.
The ftp installer indicates that the TP files have been uploaded, but they do
not open.
Not sure what the problem could be. Please get back to me with any fixes.

This could be the problem. Are you sure that’s the version as that is very old. According to their website they use version 4.x or 5.x (your choice).
Did you install in your root directory?

Re: Download Problems
Please describe the problem clearly. “Could not open” doesn’t tell us anything.

What do you mean?
php ver 2.8.02

That is a very old version, PHP was a totally different animal then. I also suggest you verify what version you’re running. Textpattern requires PHP 4.3 or greater.

Re: Download Problems
The php version is probably the updated 4-5.0 that BH has listed on their site.
The BH FTP Manager indicated that the upload was completed so I am assuming that the TP files I need are on the BH system/my website.
I found more info on where the TP files were installed:
My website main/root? directory in a folder labeled “index”, subfolder “textpattern – 4(1)(1).0.03” w/the following folder contents:
drwxr-xr-x 5 688 vitamint 4096 Aug 2 15:31 .
drwxr-xr-x 3 688 vitamint 4096 Aug 2 15:30 ..
-rw-r—r— 1 688 vitamint 318 Aug 2 15:30 .htaccess
-rw-r—r— 1 688 vitamint 6788 Aug 2 15:31 HISTORY.txt
-rw-r—r— 1 688 vitamint 1416 Aug 2 15:31 README.txt
drwxr-xr-x 2 688 vitamint 4096 Aug 2 15:30 files
drwxr-xr-x 2 688 vitamint 4096 Aug 2 15:31 images
-rw-r—r— 1 688 vitamint 845 Aug 2 15:31 index.php
drwxr-xr-x 10 688 vitamint 4096 Aug 2 15:32 textpattern
There is another index subfolder called textpattern 4.0.03 with the same contents:
drwxr-xr-x 5 688 vitamint 4096 Aug 2 15:31 .
drwxr-xr-x 3 688 vitamint 4096 Aug 2 15:30 ..
-rw-r—r— 1 688 vitamint 318 Aug 2 15:30 .htaccess
-rw-r—r— 1 688 vitamint 6788 Aug 2 15:31 HISTORY.txt
-rw-r—r— 1 688 vitamint 1416 Aug 2 15:31 README.txt
drwxr-xr-x 2 688 vitamint 4096 Aug 2 15:30 files
drwxr-xr-x 2 688 vitamint 4096 Aug 2 15:31 images
-rw-r—r— 1 688 vitamint 845 Aug 2 15:31 index.php
drwxr-xr-x 10 688 vitamint 4096 Aug 2 15:32 textpattern
and yet another subfolder named just textpattern with many files including:
config.php.default
index.php
textplan.css, etc.
Hope this helps

Re: Download Problems
I recommend you read your host’s supplied documentation on how to use the programs they provide you with – in this case their FTP manager. We can’t tell you how they work.
