Re: Someone please updating TXP entry on CMSMATRIX
Only the person who opened the account to list it can change it (or I imagine part of teh core team). The CMSMATRIX site si showing the listing as version 4.0.3 and as Last Updated 3/29/2006 so it’s not that old.

Hi NyteOwl,
Unfortunately, although the version is correct and the little summary is just fine, if you scroll down to the check list, it is very outdated.

I sent an email to the maintainer, asking to either update the listing or make me the maintainer. Hopefully we’ll get some action, one way or another. :)

Okay, I’ve done some updating (what a list!). How is it looking now? Have I missed anything (like features available through plugins, etc)?

The Web site link points to textpattern.org not .com. Also under the Support section, wouldn’t TextDrive count as “hosting”.

I need to crash, but from a quick cursory look, it seems that there’s quite a few things that could be marked yes if you consider plugins as they exist. Maybe I’m too tired and completely wrong.
G-night.

“Interoperability
Content Syndication (RSS) No”
Is this correct, maybe I’m mistaken but doesn’t that mean that txp can or can not generate rss(any)/atom/xml-blah?

Re: Someone please updating TXP entry on CMSMATRIX
Note sure but maybe …
System Requirements
Approximate Cost – free
Root Access – No
Security
SSL Compatible – (doesn’t TXP run under https if the server supports SSL?)
Support
Professional Services – yes (Team Textpattern)
Interoperability
Content Syndication – yes
Metadata – limited
Built-in Applications
Syndicated Content (RSS) – yes

Re: Someone please updating TXP entry on CMSMATRIX
The wording for the explanations (you can see them if you hover your mouse over the feature name/title) is kinda screwy, so it’s not always clear exactly what is meant (more than one possible interpretation, if you think about how other cms’ work). The editing interface is just one really long page, makes for “fun” reading and correcting…
Thanks for your help guys.
Also under the Support section, wouldn’t TextDrive count as “hosting”.
No: “Is there a vendor supplied professionally tuned hosting environment (application service provider) or has a certified hosting partner program.”
TextDrive is not vendor supplied, specially tuned Textpattern hosting, nor a “certified hosting partner”: it’s a good host, Textpattern runs on it, but it’s a host like any other, as far as Textpattern is concerned?
SSL Compatible – (doesn’t TXP run under https if the server supports SSL?)
Not exactly, not out of the box: all urls get output with http://, you can’t pick https:// at present, so you’d have to make all your urls out by hand. I don’t think we can fairly consider that “support”?
For metadata, it has: “Does the system support the adding of arbitrary metadata properties to all the content objects? The metadata is typically then used for profiling, indexing, or even auxillary display functions.”
How do you interpret that one? I wasn’t sure one way or another. Too… many… words…
Syndicated Content (RSS) – yes
“Does the CMS have an application for retrieving and displaying RDF/RSS/XML syndicated content?”
So, an add on (there’s a plugin that does this, right?), not built-in?

Re: Someone please updating TXP entry on CMSMATRIX
Mary,
For your consideration. (BTW, you are right — the descriptions are open to interpretation and in some cases the items listed seem to me to not be mutually exclusive either, which makes giving a definitive answer rather difficult.)
Under Support…
- Code Skeletons<br/>Would zem’s template compiler/example plugin and the anatomy of a plugin series count?
- Test Framework<br/>Core team has a set of regression tests, could these be considered?
Under Ease of use…
- Subscriptions<br/>Apart from RSS and atom, would third party support via bab_newsletter count here?
- UI Levels<br/>About to happen with Yura’s plugin ransom.
Under Management…
- Asset Management<br/>Surely the file and images tabs allow this. Also could be argued that TxP forms allow the management of reusable content — though you probably counted that under “Web-based Style/Template Management.”
Under Flexibility…
- Content Reuse<br/>Again, forms can be massaged to do this.
- Multi-Site Deployment<br/>Yura has a plugin to approach this.
Under Built-in Applications…
- Guestbook<br/>Sander’s plugin.
- Newsletters<br/>Covered above by bab_newsletter.
- User Contributions<br/>Community plugins such as Manfre’s mem_moderation and his article submission plugin.
Just some thoughts. Apologies in advance if I have missed the point of some of those descriptions.

I would say textpattern has a built in blog.

I see what you mean. Yes some of their descriptions can be taken more than one way.
