I need help with something difficult.

Hi.

Currently I am working together with a company that has a webpage made with ASP. They wanted me to do a blog solution for them, which I already have, thanks to TXP (I simply just made a PHP site looking like theirs with the blog included). Now however they want their articles on their ASP part of the site to have links that link the visitor to a Pop-Up that includes the comment form that the blog has – simply the standard type of comment form that TXP offers. The issue however is that how can I use TXP for this? Since the ASP site uses a different databas than the blog part of the site does and therefore the comments, as it seems, cannot create an ID that will be tied up with a specific article. In other words I want the articles in the ASP sites to have the possibility to have a link to a pop-up window that has the comment form and will work just like it does in a regular TXP site. But how can I do this while working with two different databases and two different code languages?

I would be forever greatful for valuable information on how to best solve this problem.

Best regards,
BOVN

No I did not actually, didn’t know it existed, I will try finding some other solution and if not I will try reaching them for help. But if there is anybody that knows a way to solve this it would be very kind if that person could share that peace of information.

Thanks.

This doesn’t make any sense, and I don’t mean just from a practical standpoint. Maybe I’m missing something. So you’re saying that there are discrete articles in the ASP site that just magically need to have isolated Txp comment forms tied to them to handle user comments? I’m no Alex Shiels, but I’ll wager this is not possible, and even if it was, wouldn’t it just be easier to create an ASP comment form for the ASP articles? Conversely (albeit more work), maybe a migration of their site to a fully managed php system (Txp perhaps) would be better? The awkward hybrid idea seems…well…like not a good idea. You might want to think twice about what you lead them to think is possible. Do them and yourself a favor and try and coach them towards a more pure, stable solution.

In any case, people more dev savvy than me will surely pipe in.
