I need some help.

Sorry for the vague title.

My websites lists dates where I am at certain events selling books. At present it is just one long article. Is there any way I can turn the months and dates into individual articles making my life easier and allowing me to list our next booksale on the front page.

The website is here and the page listing my calendar is called events and the next event is listed on the home page in the “currently we are” box.

There has to be some way of doing this. I just can’t get my brain around it.

Re: I need some help.

I have discovered the “jmc_event_manager”

It’s getting there. I still need to work out the best way of displaying the info now.

Re: I need some help.

I see you found a plugin :) But I reckon you can also do it with native TXP.

I don’t see anything on your page at the moment but I suppose you need something like
  • start date (posted)
  • end date (custom field)
  • location? (custom field)
  • description/venue? (body)
  • and whatever else you need

You could sort by posted, ascending. You might even be able to change the end date custom field type to ‘date’ (I’ve never done this, but if you can change it from varchar to text, why not to date?)

To show the first event on the front page just use <txp:article_custom section="events" limit="1" sortby="Posted" sortdir="asc" form="whatever" />

Edit: oh and don’t forget the time="future" attribute.

Re: I need some help.

i’m getting confused by the plug in. I’m trying to list by venue.

what i want is:

dyserth
12th Aug 2006
13th Aug 2006

Liverpool
29th July 2006
30th July 2006

etc.

I might have to try with native TXP if I can’t get my head around this corner.

Re: I need some help.

I don’t know the plugin very well. If you have questions about it, better post them in the plugin thread. I think it can do what you want.
