Re: Plugin Requests

Destry,
For what its worth, Yura has been working on this per my request here as it regards the “write” fields. He has successfully created a matrix for checking or unchecking the items which should/not be visible dependent on your level of user.

Per the level of work he put into it and the level of need, I suggested he hold out for $150 (US dollars) instead of my meager $50. So he is waiting to release it until more support is drummed up. Perhaps we could combine authors for a more extensive plugin to include other parts of the admin interface?

Let me know what you think. (my correspondence might be slim as I’m on vacation in the OBX)

:)

Matthew

Re: Plugin Requests

Ah, that works. I like and highly respect Yura’s work. I got a bit lazy in this thread, I guess. I was trying to rope similar concepts together from other places…you know how it goes.

Doesn’t this need to be noted in the head post. I don’t see it. Or at least give a pointer to where the ransom details are being described.

I might also suggest to Yura that he add a row (sans download link) for the future plugin in the plugin archives, inluding a PayPal button to create yet another channel of support potential. Just a thought.

Re: Plugin Requests

Mary,
Could you make the appropriate note in the head of this thread that we are waiting on a ransom of $150 for the hide “write” fields plugin as it currently stands. I have offered $50, so we are still $100 short.

Destry, I’ll mention your note to Yura, if he doesn’t see it first :) Good idea.

Anyone interested in helping Yura adapt this plugin for greater functionality across the admin areas, feel free to contact him (see his email link below).

M

edit sorry about that Yura, I just copied the email link on your avatar, but maybe its protected huh?
Now we are waiting on Mary to get the plugin bumped to the top again.

Also, consider connecting with other developers about the section permissions/admin permissions stuff?

Re: Plugin Requests

lee, I’m going to support releases only, just do not see a need to check against every single changeset, which would also be difficult to achieve technically.

Re: Plugin Requests

@ Destry, Matthew: It was claimed and has been for a while (since May), so it was dropped off the list. I have no way of knowing what’s still current or unfinished short of reading every single post on the forum.

Oh, well apparently there’s a ransom for it (judging from post 121) so, I don’t know, having it shown might be useful.

I have no way of knowing what’s still current or unfinished short of reading every single post on the forum.

Maybe this isn’t the best venue then? There was a TextBook page called Feature Requests that had a section for plugin requests, we could switch to something like that and let the community help you manage things, maybe start a new page just for the job. Just an idea. Go for it, anyone, if you want to, certainly.

Re: Plugin Requests

The author could easily create a new thread if he’s interested in collecting further donations/suggestions for it. The purpose of this thread was for logging requests and getting them adopted, not tracking development.

You can do the wiki thing if you really want, I certainly don’t care one way or another, though I think it just over complicates things, especially given the hesitancy of users to actually use the wiki.

Re: Plugin Requests

Idea for a plugin

A plugin similar to rss_article_edit

Explanation: A plugin which will allow logged in authors to view content in ‘front-end’ pages which is not viewable by the general surfer

ie
<txp:plugin_private_data>whatever goes here</txp:plugin_private_data>

this, I think, will be very useful to sites which use multiple authors.

possible uses: authors can leave notes regarding a particular post they posted for other ‘members’ to view. Admins can ‘mark’ certain sections for authors with whatever rave they feel appropriate. Designers can add explanations regarding how their client updates their website.

I can think of many more but I hope you get my drift…

Will anyone find this useful?
