404 is back No clean URLS for me :(
i came back to work on the site today and the problem is back. I contacted tech support becasue I had a server internal error 500. Their solution was to rename the file to .htaccess-bak so it no longer was needed. Which put me back where I was. So here are my diagnostics

here is the .htaccess file i have

on another note when I deleted the .htaccess I was able to access the maine page.

I deleted the .htaccess file and switched to messy and still the problem persists. I can’t get to any page other than the home page. I don’t know what to do. I have contacted my hosting company i did everything in the faq and read all those posts.

What urls give 404s? Can you provide examples?

You have probably either hard-coded the clean-url-links rather than using the correct tags to generate the links, or you are using plugin that are only made to work with clean urls. But as mary says, without seeing concrete examples it’s hard to tell (crystal ball out of order).
