sections show up via ftp?
Are sections and individual template pages created ONLY in the database or should they show up on the server when I look via FTP? I’m trying to create an archive page but can see nothing created on the server.
Is it a case of putting in a url and the server generated the page or section ?

Re: sections show up via ftp?
No real folders are created. You create a section in Presentation > sections, e.g. ‘articles’, assign it a page template, e.g. ‘archive’, put an article tag on the page, write one or more articles and assign section ‘articles’ to them, and you should be able to view them on yoursite.com/articles/ (or yoursite.com/?s=articles if you use messy url’s).
Textbook is a good place to visit, Textpattern Semantic Model a good article to start with.

Re: sections show up via ftp?
So if you are trying to create an archive page that is in the root folder – and you create a section called “archives” should your admin permanent link setting be /title – what would the url be?
www.website.com/archives.php ?
or do you have to use /section/title and it would be www.website.com/archives/index.php ?

Re: sections show up via ftp?
Permanent link mode /title won’t show the section in the url, it will be site.com/article-title.
Permanent link mode /section/title: site.com/section-name/article-title.
So no .php (or other) extensions.

Re: sections show up via ftp?
Sorry, I’m confused. I’m trying to create a basic archive listing all entries. based on a new template called “archives”.
Do I also need to create an article entry with nothing in it to generate my full list of past articles?
Sorry – I’m more familiar to MT. TXP seems a bit more confusing.

Re: sections show up via ftp?
but what if you wanted your archives page to be www.website.com/archives.php rather than www.website.com/archives/ how do you make a static page, that is not a directory?
