Long/Large plugins won't install

Basically, if I try and install a “long” plugin such as mem_self_register, the installation hangs. It brings up a preview, but doesn’t reach the end of the file and the progress bar just stops and it says “Done” but no install button becomes present. I have spoke to my host who have checked everything and say that it isn’t a problem their end. What could be causing this problem?

Are you sure it’s only for large plugins, that the plugins you’ve tried are not corrupted in some manner?

Well I have tried a couple of “long” plugins, including the mem_self_register, and all of them failed despite them stating they supported my version of Textpattern (4.0.3) so I’m a bit stumped really.

I’m having the same exact problem and I can confirm that it has happened with several long plugins, not only 1 or 2.

Please post your diagnostics output. If you change your site production mode to debugging, do you then receive any warnings or errors upon trying to install a plugin?

Sorry about the lack of detail. One such plugin that I was trying to install was rss_admin_db_manager from http://www.wilshireone.com/textpattern-plugins/rss_admin_db_manager. I switched my site mote do debugging but still receive the same error message, a 404 page not found, however this is after the plugin uploaded and displayed and when I click install.
