Articles as image gallery?
I am trying to figure out a way either with a plug in or using articles to create an image gallery.
The scenario is set up as follows. Each gallery page will have only four thumbnails. Upon adding a fifth gallery image it makes a new page and sets up a link at the bottom <code>gallery 1, 2 ,3 etc..</code>
The idea is to make it super simple for someone who isnt to computer savvy to update the backend. I know I can uplaod images then using txp image have it appear as a thumbnail and when clicked load an article. I can’t figure out how to cut off at 4 then create a new page on the fifth image and another on the seventh etc.
Any help ideas thoughts on the matter would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Articles as image gallery?
I would post the image as an article image, set up a page template with a limit of 4 and include txp:older/newer tags (or use the pagination plugin etx or rsx I think). bas_img selector would make it easy for people to post article images too.

Re: Articles as image gallery?
Ok I have more image gallery related questions. I know it is possible to have new articles post as text links instead of full blown articles. The trick comes in when you rollover the text link an article image appears that is contained in this article. I know how to do text/image rollovers using either css or javascript or a combo of the two.
So the question is how do I target the individual article images to appear on rollover rather than the current existing article image on the page?
Thank you to anyone who can help me.

Re: Articles as image gallery?
OK, if you publish a thumbnail as an excerpt, then the following might work using CSS Popups.
First, turn off auto-append comments in Admin>Preferences.
Page: img (DTD and other stuff excluded)
<pre>
<ul>
<txp:article form="img_list" limit="5" />
</ul>
<p><txp:older>Back</txp:older> | <txp:newer>Forward</txp:newer></p>
</pre>
Form: img_list – article form
<pre>
<li><a href="<txp:permlink />"><txp:title /><txp:excerpt /></a></li>
</pre>
For posting images, see the screenshot at the end of this. Hope that helps (and works!).

Re: Articles as image gallery?
Ok I was wondering if it were possible to use the css pop ups with what I wanted to do. So then
<code><li><a href=”<txp:permlink />”><txp:title /><txp:excerpt /></a></li></code> Could I in theory use
<code><li><a href=”<txp:permlink />”><txp:title /><txp:image /></a></li></code> instead? Oh, I suppose the excerpt could just contain the <txp:image /> tag. Yes that should work nicely! Thanks you have saved me a lot of time.
The ironic thing is when I was looking for image galleries I had stumbled unto your site before. Thanks Alot for helping me out I really appreciate it!

Re: Articles as image gallery?
Ok you will have to forgive me as I could very well just be an idiot.
I gave up on the css popup because i was having some funky issues with its implementation in TXP. However I have been able to get the gallery to work beautifully. I just have one small problem when you click on the excerpt to load the article it loads the article and the large image but then the rest of the side nav disappears and leaves only the present article thumbnail up.
I have no doubt this is a simple problem to fix but I am overly frustrated with ahving to figure out text pattern for non blog based sites.
I already had to drop it for one project becasue the learning curve was to high for me.
thanks Again
