[mention] IBM developerWorks evaluates Textpattern for community site usage
…and chooses Drupal. Interesting comparison of various OS systems for operating a hypothetical community site.

I think both are champions in their different leagues (textpattern and drupal).

Not surprised Drupal was the choice, since that’s what it’s actually made for. :) The only other one in the list is Mambo. I like Drupal over Mambo, myself.
<notextile>*sigh*</notextile>, they called Textpattern “Text Pattern”, “TextPattern” and a “blog engine”.
They also said it wasn’t “extensible”. I can only guess they mean it is not yet “modular” in the way Drupal is, which would be correct. Can’t wait for elements to arrive. :)

Given the requirements they set out to meet I would have been surprised if the decided on something other then Drupal. Although I would hardly describe Drupal as easily themable.
It was disappointing to again be lumped in the blog category.

They also said there was no cacheing abilities, if I’m not mistaken both Sencer and zem have plugins for this. I guess they weren’t talking about extensibility in that respect either.
Makes you wonder how off they are with their reviews of the other systems too. What it really comes down to is poor research before writing.
