problem with link to another section.
HI,
I think i must be missing something here.
Ive got this code
<code><a href=”<txp:site_url />testing”>home</a></code>
and then ive got a section called testing setup using a custom page and style template of my own.
When i click the link to “ home” on my default page it says page cant be found:
The requested URL /textpattern/about was not found on this server.
Im running a local server at the mo
any ideas?

Re: problem with link to another section.
Are you sure you put that code on the right page? When you view the default page in your browser, and then view the source, what is the code for the link to home you see there?

Re: problem with link to another section.
HI there,
Yeah that code is definatley on the default page and this is the source code from the default page:
<code><li><a href=“http://localhost/textpattern/testing”>home</a></li></code>
Ive got a section named testing which uses my own page and style. I dont get it

Re: problem with link to another section.
Can it be your section’s title or name? I mean that one is ‘testing’ and the other is ‘about’?

Re: problem with link to another section.
ok, im just using the default ‘about’ section now to make sure its nothing to so with my custom page/styles. This page is using the default templates.
the code i have to link to it in my default page is:
<code><li><a href=”<txp:site_url />about”>about</a></li></code>
and this is parsed:
<code><li><a href=“http://localhost/textpattern/about”>about</a></li></code>
the error i get is as before:
The requested URL /textpattern/about was not found on this server
I cant see anything wrong with what im doing.

Re: problem with link to another section.
Could it be that clean urls don’t work on your server? If you switch to messy, does it work?

Re: problem with link to another section.
No unfortunatley not. Ive looked in to diagnostics and it says im using section/title permanent link mode. Ive made sure ive got it set to this in admin.
Ive tried setting it to messy and removing ht access but that doesnt work either!
Im going to un-install my server and txp because now links to comments pages and files are not working!

Re: problem with link to another section.
arrgghhh! I un-installed- re-installed everything and then realised that i hadnt changed my link in my default section from:
<code> <li><a href=”<txp:site_url />about”>about</a></li></code>
to this:
<code><li><a href=”<txp:site_url />index.php?s=about”>about</a></li></code>
Nevermind. Thanks for your help again Els!

We always keep learning :)
Does that mean you’ve got it working now?
