Tabbed TXP Editing

One of my pet peeves of this otherwise genius piece of software is that it limits me to editing one page at a time. I am sure that there is a good reason for this, but for someone who is used to tabbed browsing in FireFox, this strikes me as a terrible weakness.

I wish I could open multiple instances of the admin in separate tabs of my browser and simply show some indication on the pages that your data has been edited but not saved. Does that make sense?

Of course this is probably easier said than coded…

You can.

What I meant by the above is having some sort of icon or phrase that shows up as soon as you begin to modify settings or content. This way you can work on several tabs and always have a clear indicator of whether or not your work has been saved.

Does that make more sense?

Yes, that’d be possible, right now via a plugin, in fact. Might not make it as a feature, though, I’m not sure.

I hear ya. Too many whistles and bells can weigh a program down

Plugin format would be cool though

Edit: the problem I was having with multiple TXP’s is a weird bug in Safari.

Normally I can Command-click links to have them open in new tabs, but with TXP, it refreshes both tabs.

The solution is to ctrl-click links and select “Open in New Tab” from the menu. Weird, but it at least it works..

Be nice if the textarea could expand it’s width a bit too along with the window width.

NyteOwl, I agree with you. A workaround if you use Firefox is to use the resizable textarea extension and grab and drag the bottom and right-hand side of almost any textarea (i.e. here in the forum too).

If you feel adventurous, and are using OS X, go with the latest WebKit nightly builds (aka future Safari): resize-able textareas is there. Omniweb 5.1+ has an even better mechanism.

Thanks I’ll give it a try – works great!. Nope, not OSX user (or not regualrly anyway).
