Offline Archiving
Hello-
I haven’t been able to find a post on this, so I’m making my own, if someone knows of one, please let me know.
I have a travel blog that I want to take down to make space on my site, but I want to archive it on CD/DVD for posterity. Any ideas how this could be done?

Re: Offline Archiving
I believe there is a version of wamp that will do this. There is a post about this somewhere. Ah yes uniformserver is what you want.

Re: Offline Archiving
Thank you for the quick reply, I’m actually running OSX, and have MySQL running, but I don’t want to keep the blog active, I just want to archive it on CD, so that anyone, regardless of if they have MySQL running, can view it…
Thanks again!

You can use wget with the mirror option
We Love TXP . TXP Themes . TXP Tags . TXP Planet . TXP Make

Re: Offline Archiving
Doesn’t that just create an online archive? I need an OFFline archive.

Re: Offline Archiving
Blue Crab and Site Sucker are paid options for the Mac. Haven’t tried either myself, so I can’t comment.
If you’re comfortable with the command line, however: no,
wget
is not just for online mirrors. You can use it to download to your local machine.

Re: Offline Archiving
There is also httrack which can be installed through Fink. It worked on some sites I couldn’t get wget to work right with.
